The Clarks are back in 2002 with “Another Happy Ending”, the follow-up to their hit album “Let It Go” (released in 2000). “Let It Go” was a monumental release in their career as it was the first full album to receive the recognition that was needed to shoot them into the status that they were capable of. As their popularity continues to accumulate, The Clarks could not be blind to the pressure that accompanies this release. “Another Happy Ending” is significant in determining the future path of these rockers; this album can make or break them.

The Clarks have since silenced that pressure with their 2002 release. “Another Happy Ending” is as good as or better than the previous release; “Let It Go”. The Clarks have nearly outdone themselves with 12 solid tracks that will not only satisfy die hard fans, but will satisfy general rock enthusiasts. This collection of tracks leads you into the minds of the Pittsburgh bred rockers giving you the control to understand them and a sense of admiration.

This album starts off with the mellowed out Maybe, which is quite possibly my favorite track. The lyrics are vivid, but general enough to allow for your own interpretation. The style fits and they exploit the sound as well as anyone I’ve heard. The cd then jumps into All The Things I Wanted. The lyrics in this jam are very impressive, but the track doesn’t leave the best impression. I like the track, but I am not hesitant to tell all of you that this isn’t the best track on the lp. On Saturday follows and satisfies. This track is amazing. It’s catchy and incorporates the deep depth of the Clarks. There isn’t a lot of description for this track, but trust me you will enjoy this sound. Superstar will be the next track flowing out your speakers….Superstar is more upbeat in the instrumental sense, but the lyrics maintain a slow tempo for the most part. It is a nice blend of sound and a very nice touch. Next up: Hey You. Hey You is a slower track, but maintains the Clarks style. Rhe lyrics are also well thought out. Rhis track doesn’t vary much, but is sound enough to silence any gripe that you may initially have. Boys Lie is a fun song that starts off with an interesting rift that pops up time and time again throughout the song. For the most part this track is very good. I am not a huge fan of that goofy rift, but it isn’t heard enough to throw off the perfect balance of this track. Wasting Time is next up. The track rolls on slower than most of the songs on this album and contains some aspects that are really enjoyable. I am not a huge fan of this song, but it makes for a nice mix up on the track list. Twist Up is next in the order and offers quiet relief from the previous track. This song is quite laid back, but keeps its lyrics out there for you to understand and relate. This Old House follows it up bringing the most out of your attention. The song is relatively slow, but maintains the ability to keep you involved both lyrically and instrumentally. The lyrics on each of the previous tracks are easily understood and This Old House tends to “follow suit”. The lyrics are not broad enough to be able to relate to everyone’s life, however, they are well written allowing more relation to the band. Inside You is a great tune that does not only satisfy your listening ear, but allows you to picture your own story any way that you want. While the song is not my favorite instrumentally it is my favorite lyrically. The instrumental within allows for an added flavor; Clarks flavor. So You Can Sleep At Night offers a nice “romantic” sound that encompasses the flexibility of the Clarks. They have the true talent of songwriting, as they can make just about anything work; and work well. Love Is What You Need is the final track on the album. The song really ends the album with dignity and leaves your mouth watering for more. The song is so well done that it only leaves your mind wondering what is in store for these rockers. Is this final song an indication of what may land on their next album? Let's hope.
