Who would have thought
we would reach a point in time when Ja Rule would be releasing
his fourth album, not I. In fact, Ja Rule seems to have found
personal satisfaction within his music and may only be getting
started. But is that a good thing for us… the consumers?
Ja Rule made his debut back in 1999 with "Venni Vetti Vecci".
From there he went on to release "Rule 3:36" and "Pain is
Love" in 2001. For the 4th consecutive year, a new Ja Rule
album will be piling up on store shelves; the newest album
titled "Last Temptation". "Last Temptation" is a small
collection of tracks using the typical Ja Rule sound. You will
not find anything new on this album; instead you will hear
much more of the same. In fact, he chose to record another
track featuring Ashanti; it worked before (to sell albums),
why not try it again, I guess. The new jam with Ashanti
doesn't sound similar to 'Always on Time', but it sure brings
back memories of that old-played-out song. While the song is
not bad, it lacks originality; like the remaining 12 tracks.
I wish that I could explore the depth that Ja Rule brings to
the music world, but the depth is very minimal, to some
non-existent. The vocal ability is also extremely limited,
which tends to cause each song to sound like the last. In
terms of flow, he has a horrible flow. Personally, I feel that
he may have one of the worst flows in the rap game, but my
opinion may lie in the minority. In either case, this album
rehashes a Ja Rule sound that will not only leave listeners
with an empty feeling, it will also reinforce the fact that Ja
Rule’s image is much larger than his talent.
Ja Rule may lack any rap ability, but his albums do excel in
terms of dance rap. Most of his hit songs have been club hits
that do a great job of getting people to the dance floor, but
as far as impressing people, they don't. This album is once
again more of the same. A few of the tracks on the album will
fare well at the club, but most listeners will buy this album
for the one or two decent tracks. Very few listeners will
leave this album in their player more than a day, signifying
the quality of the album, or lack of.
I am not even sure that Ja Rule fans will like this album,
simply because this album contains the worn-out sound that he
has established on his 3 previous albums. Ja Rule is a money
hungry artist who seems more than happy releasing album year
after year regardless of what it actually sounds like. This is
one album that I would recommend you download, instead of
spending your money supporting it and later finding out that
you wasted that money. Download the one or two decent tracks
and move on with this, might I say, garbage.
"Last Temptation" is a small collection of tracks that is
bundled up in one poor package. I would NOT recommend that
anyone buy this album, but if you must buy this then don't
ever say that we didn’t warn you first. If you are in love
with Ja Rule and find yourself drooling over his pictures,
songs, etc. then I suggest that you get some help, but in the
meantime stand in line for this album on the 19th of November
and get ready for more of the same. You sure won’t catch me
anywhere near this one.
