The madman has returned and is ready to pummel your eardrums!
Rob Zombie’s follow up LP, "The Sinister Urge", is a return
trip to the twisted carnival of Rob’s mind. Sadly, we are only
treated with eleven tracks of full throttle “horror metal”,
but welcome it. Zombie’s creepy mug is always a treat when it
is displayed at your local record store. An added bonus, Rob’s
hot wife is scantily displayed on the cd itself. Continue to
read my friends and enjoy the journey through madness.
"The Sinister Urge" is much
different than Zombie's first attempt at rock n’ roll stardom.
White Zombie was adored by millions of fans and appropriately
so. However, Rob Zombie's solo act is much, much better. The
prime reason is organization. This can’t be stressed enough.
Throughout all my reviews for everything i do, organization is
the key. Maybe i’m anal, but maybe its because if music (or
anything for that matter) isn’t organized it sounds like crap.
Anything sounds good as long as it’s organized. Rob and the
boys have achieved that here. Zombie has also integrated a 50+
piece symphony for added creepiness. All the songs have a
strange feel akin to a horribly twisted carnival.
Nevertheless, read on!
As you probably know; and even
if you didn’t Rob Zombie is now into film. His unreleased
movie: "house of 1000 corpses" is slated to hit the silver
screen within the next 2 years (hopefully). This is also track
number eleven on the "Sinister Urge."
Here is a song lyric snippet:
Never Gonna Stop:
Yeah
My durango number 95
Take me to the home
Kick boots
And ultra live
See heaven flash
A horrorshow
Knock it nice
And smooth
Step back and
Watch it flow
Yeah!"
I know as well as you do that those lyrics are pretty messed
up considering that no one besides Rob Zombie and his band
know what the hell it all means. Nevertheless, when you plug
it into your cd player, it sounds great. If you have listened
to any of his cds, "The Sinister Urge" sounds like hellbilly
deluxe, and astrocreep 2000 from White Zombie. Overall this is
a great cd worthy of purchase, but only if you are a fan of
the Zombies. I give this CD four Planets. It has great sound,
great rhythm and is well organized; but still doesn’t knock my
socks off. Until next time my freakish readers. . .
